Behind the Cup
The flavor profile is distinctive and unmistakable. Alongside the immediately recognizable lychee fruit flavor, we tasted pear, white grape, and floral notes.
Did You Know?
Most Indonesian coffee uses a unique method called "Wet-Hulling" (Giling Basah). Because the air is so humid, farmers remove the bean's protective layer while it’s still wet to speed up drying. This usually creates deep, earthy flavors, but this coffee is part of our Reserve line-up because it adds a modern twist to that tradition. During the fermentation stage, the producers added dried lychee fruit directly into the tanks. This allows the coffee to absorb a vibrant fruit sweetness while still maintaining the heavy, "chocolatey" body that makes Sumatran coffee so beloved.

Farmlevel Story
Bener Meriah
A Volcanic Sanctuary
Grown in the lush, misty forests of Aceh, this coffee comes from a region where farms are alive with biodiversity and generations of cultivation knowledge. Coffee grows alongside fruit trees and vegetables in rich, spongy soil, nourished by year-round rain and constant new growth. In this vibrant landscape, coffee ripens nearly ten months a year.
Mastery of the Micro-Lot
Unlike most smallholder-grown coffees in the area, this roast comes from a single 100-hectare estate in Bener Meriah, where Central Sumatra Coffee controls every step from variety selection to fermentation. Using anaerobic fermentation with yeast and co-fermentation with dried fruit, this process creates a wildly unique cup with bright lychee sweetness and nostalgic fruit cereal aromas.
