Farmlevel Story
Rwanda - Furaha Umwizeye
This coffee lot comes from a small group in Rwanda, Murundo. The beans are grown at high-elevation with a forest influence that produces some of the region's best coffee. Kivubelt, founded in 2011 by Furaha Umwizeye, a farm region with 90,000 coffee trees planted and over 400 workers employed during harvest. Two washing stations processes coffee from its estates for over 500 smallholder farmers.
Cyiya's coffee is known for its honey-sweet, floral flavor with notes of lychee, citrus, and bitter chocolate. The region's unique terroir, with its cool, humid climate and volcanic soils, contributes to the coffee's distinctive profile. Kivubelt is a prime example of the country's coffee renaissance.
